5 Facts About Me!

Hi friends! I’m Danielle, the photographer behind D. Phillips Photography located in Clarksville, TN.

When I decided to quit my corporate job to pursue my passion, it was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done but little did I know how wonderful it would turn out to be. Now I get to help empower my clients to feel like their very best selves! I’m grateful that not only do I get to work with incredible women and hear their stories, but also that I get to build a career that feels truly rewarding.

In my VIP group on Facebook and on Instagram I share sneak peeks of my photo shoots and some of my home life (because let’s face it - if I’m not at my studio, I’m probably at home snuggling with my family 🐶🐶). 5 Facts About Danielle Phillips - Photographer at D. Phillips Photography

1. I grew up in a small suburb outside of Toronto, Canada 🍁

I’m a poutine loving Canadian and I married an all American guy and together we moved here to Clarksville, Tennessee. I have lots of family still up in Canada so we make sure to visit up north every year. Friends think I’m crazy because my husband and I do the 16+ hour drive up there in one day!

2. My (non-alcoholic) drink of choice is water

When I’m feeling fancy, Strawberry-Pineapple LaCroix is my jam. For alcoholic drinks, I’m really quite simple 😂 It’s usually a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon at home or jack & coke at a bar.

3. I would travel just about anywhere in the world

Travelling is one of my favorite things to experience. Lately cheap flights to Europe have been catching my eye (I’ve never been to that continent before) and visiting Italy is definitely a front runner on my “wanderlist”!

4. The chore I absolutely LOATHE doing is cleaning out the car :(

Maybe it’s all the dog hair or my husband’s unreasonably high polishing standards haha, but either way that’s one chore that I feel zero guilt about paying someone else to do.

5. A big dream I hope that comes true is about my business and studio!

I’m kind of a workaholic, so if I’m not editing photos at home I’m probably downtown at my studio… and one of my big dreams that I hope comes true is being able to upgrade my Clarksville photography studio! If you haven’t noticed I always seem to be adding and changing things, so I would love to be able to double the size I am currently at one day to accommodate my vision!

Senior Portraits | D. Phillips Photography

"My pictures turned out more beautiful than I could have ever imagined."
 

Tracie reached out to me to capture her senior photos to celebrate graduating from Middle Tennessee State University, and I'm so glad that she did! This lovely lady is such an accomplished student, hard worker, and pleasure to get to know.

We hit it off as soon as we started chatting, and when Tracie mentioned that she had her heart set on outdoor photos, inspiration immediately popped into my head! Eventually we decided that shooting in various spots in downtown Clarksville would be best and give us the most variety.
 

For my senior grad sessions, I always suggest that clients invite their families to join us and step into a photo or two to document this time in their lives, and Tracie took me up on the offer. Her mom and sisters joined in for the first part of our shoot and it was so worth it! 

Enough from me, though. Here are a few words from Tracie sharing what her Signature Session experience was like with D. Phillips Photography.

"I tend to be one of those awkward picture takers, so I was really nervous going into my photo shoot."

I’m here to tell you, there is no need to worry! Danielle was friendly and professional from our very first email exchanges, which let me know I had chosen the right photographer. I was open to ideas for location and Danielle carefully scouted Clarksville prior to my session to ensure we found the perfect locations to take pictures.

On the day of my shoot, she helped me look over my outfits and decide which ones would be most flattering in my pictures. She was very thorough in ensuring that we captured the vision I had for my pictures, while adding her unique photographer's flare. During the shoot, she also guided me through different poses and postures to help avoid awkward limbs and unflattering faces.
 

The hardest part of the entire process was trying to select the pictures to take home, because they were all so beautiful. I’m so glad I found D. Phillips Photography and I couldn’t be happier with my pictures!
 

Thank you ladies for everything you did to make my photo shoot perfect! Karlie, my hair and makeup has never looked so good :) It was amazing not having to worry about hair and makeup before or during the shoot. Danielle, I am so grateful I found your website.
